May 14, 2024, is the Anchorage Mayoral Runoff Election
The out of state vendor mailed the ballot packages on April 30, 2024, giving you time to carefully research the candidates and return it on or before Election Day.
You have three safe and secure options to return your completed ballot: you may return your ballot to one of 18 secure drop boxes within the municipality, to an Anchorage Vote Center, or by mail through the U.S. Postal Service with first-class postage, I suggest going into the Post Office and have them stamp the date & time on the envelope .
Sign your ballot on the back of the return envelope per the instructions.
Lost ballot or not received by May 14, go to the Vote Center at City Hall or Loussac Library for a ballot and to vote in person. All mailed ballots must be postmarked by May 14. If you are using a drop box, make sure to deposit your ballot by 8 PM on election day.

JBER to welcome Thunderbirds, Joint Forces Demo at
Arctic Thunder Open House
JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska – Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson will host the biannual Arctic Thunder Open House July 20 and 21, 2024, with the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds, headlining the event along with other military and civilian air acts.
The Thunderbirds' F-16 Fighting Falcons, a multi-role fighter jet, will perform formation flying and solo routines. They have been one of the top draws to air shows throughout the U.S. and around the world since 1953.
“This is our opportunity, every two years, to open our gates to the public and invite the community in to show them, up close, what we do every day,” said U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Lee Morgan, director of ATOH 2024. “It’s an incredible opportunity for us to interact with the community which is so supportive of our military. It allows our Airmen and Soldiers the opportunity to shake your hand, say ‘thank you,’ and inspire the people of Alaska who inspire us every day.”
The theme for ATOH 2024 is “Honoring Legacy…. Inspiring the Next Generation.”

We would especially like to meet you at our in-person meeting at Rabbit Creek Church – Huffman Campus, 12100 Old Seward Highway, enter the meeting through the double doors. Free parking and there’s a coffee stand in the parking lot. Together we will learn about what’s going on in our community and city.
The Council's purpose is to provide a direct and continuing means of citizen participation in local affairs. You will be able to communicate with: your neighbors, community patrol, assembly member, Anchorage Fire Department, Anchorage School Board, and our District 10-E legislators. This is your opportunity to learn and ask questions.
The draft Agenda will be posted the week of the meeting.
Other items on the agenda include the Alaska Railroad Trail on the Easement, the Eldon Subdivision Water & Sewer improvements, the Clean Slate Strategy and Housing & Homelessness as it relates to our community, and Capital Improvement Projects for 2024/2025.
If you are new to the community or have lived here for decades, this is where you can get involved! No commitment required and it’s free to attend!

Membership:
We welcome member input! Any resident, property owner, or business located within the boundaries of the Council is a member of OSOVCC (see the map).
Members are eligible to vote at the November meeting. See the Bylaws on the menu, linked at the right, for detailed information.

On the menu at the right, select “Agenda” and “Minutes” to see both prior to our meeting.
Our meeting starts at 6:30 pm and each person must be added to the Zoom meeting individually. Please log-in to the Zoom meeting at 6:15 pm to make the process efficient. Enter your First Name and Last Initial. Be prepared to provide the name of the street, within the Community Council boundary, that you live on.
