Bylaws Committee

As a nonprofit organization whose mission is to foster and support neighborhood engagement, the Federation of Community Council serves as an important advocate and organizer for Community Councils. The Board of Delegates has been in a long process to improve organizational capacity and create a successful support network. As part of that work, the Board called for a bylaw committee to be formed at the March 2025 Board of Delegates Meeting.

The bylaw committee has been through a multi-step process, which allowed for various opportunities for input. While the process is not over, here is a timeline of the committee’s work so far:

Sept. 17, 2024 – Board Roles & Responsibilities, Pt.1: Delegates provided training on the purpose and expectations of nonprofit boards.
Nov. 12, 2024 – Board Roles & Responsibilities, Pt.2: Delegates reviewed training and discussed core values, decision making, and the traits of a successful board.
Mar. 15, 2025 – Board Strategic Planning at 2025 Summit: Delegates spent a full day learning and preparing for strategic planning. This included the outlining of core purpose & values, as well as identifying a need for bylaw updates.
Mar. 19, 2025 – Board of Delegates Meeting: FCC Board Chair calls for the establishment of a bylaw committee.
April thru September 2025 – Bylaw Committee Meetings
Aug. 20, 2025 – Bylaw Worksession: Bylaw Committee hosts a worksession to informally introduce and take feedback on the draft bylaws. Small edits provided by attendees
Sept. 17, 2025 – Formal introduction of the draft bylaws
October 6, 2025 – Bylaw Committee Meeting
October 15, 2025 – Board of Delegates Meeting: Meeting ended before discussion of draft bylaws.
October 29, 2025 – Board of Delegates Special Meeting Part 1: Facilitated worksession with Laurie Wolfe (Foraker) to discuss the bylaws and provide feedback.
November 18, 2025 – Board of Delegates Special Meeting Part 2: Facilitated worksession with Laurie Wolfe (Foraker) to discuss the bylaws and provide feedback.
November 19, 2025 – Board of Delegates Meeting
December 8, 2025 – Bylaw Committee Meeting
