Downtown residents, business owners, and property owners: your voice and presence are needed. Following intense community concerns raised during our July meeting regarding downtown safety and the lack of visible intervention during peak tourist season, the Downtown Community Council (DTCC) is convening a critical session to get answers and discuss direct solutions.
We are pleased to announce that key city officials will be in attendance to address these issues directly, hear your feedback, and answer your questions.

Focus Areas from Our July 1st Meeting
This meeting is a direct follow-up to the serious safety and property concerns voiced by the community on July 1st. The discussion will heavily focus on the lack of noticeable intervention regarding intense activities in two primary areas:
- Peratrovich Park: Addressing the high volume of individuals loitering throughout the day and sleeping overnight. Specific concerns include open drinking, camping without tents, and individuals consistently engaging tourists and passersby.
- East Downtown (4th Ave & Cordova St): Addressing identical issues near the Downtown Hope Center corridor, where highly visible public drinking and loitering continue to impact the neighborhood.
Why Your Attendance Matters
Anchorage residents, business operators, and visitors rely on Downtown to be a safe, welcoming, and vibrant hub. This is your opportunity to speak directly with leadership from both the Mayor’s Office and the Police Department. Please attend, stay informed, and bring your questions so we can work together toward a safer Downtown.
