Purpose:
The Alcohol and Marijuana Committee collaborates with the Council to review alcohol and marijuana license applications, renewals, and related matters. Our activities also include addressing issues such as homeless camps and regulations on alcohol sales, including the “Red Stripe law”.
Purpose:
The Bylaws Committee is responsible for the creation and maintenance of the Northeast Community Council’s bylaws. The committee shall periodically review the bylaws to ensure that the operations of the community council are in alignment with the goals and purposes of the Northeast Community Council. The committee shall recommend changes to the bylaws when necessary and make such recommendations known to the executive board and general council.
Purpose:
The CIP Committee collaborates with the Council to advise the Municipal Assembly on CIP priorities. Our role involves identifying the Council’s needs related to street improvements, parks, recreation, trails, and other city services. Additionally, we compile the CIP priority list and draft necessary resolutions.
Purpose:
The Parks and Trails Committee assists the Council in long-term planning for parks and trails. The Parks and Trails Committee advocates for the creation and maintenance of park, trail, open space, and other outdoor recreational opportunities that enhance the quality of life for the Council.
We envision a connected system of parks and trails, fostering healthy outdoor experiences while also addressing issues created by homelessness. We strive to create clean, beautiful spaces that benefit the entire community. As part of our commitment, we assess community park conditions regularly and actively address concerns raised by residents related to park assets.
Purpose:
The Picnic Committee shall organize and manage the annual “Spirit of Muldoon Picnic” held annually.
Purpose:
The purpose of the Community Patrols is to foster interactive partnerships between law enforcement agencies, their officers, and the community. By developing connections within the community, police officers are better informed and empowered to address public safety concerns. The Community Patrol is the eyes and ears on the street and reports suspicious and criminal activities.
The Community Patrols in the Northeast Community Council area are part of the Anchorage Coalition of Community Patrols.
Purpose:
The Placemaking Committee aim is to enhance the quality of life in the Council by transforming our public spaces into vibrant, inclusive, and engaging environments. Through collaborative efforts, the Placemaking Committee seeks to create places that foster social interaction, cultural expression, and well-being for all residents. By leveraging local assets, creativity, and community input, the Placemaking Committee strives to make the Council’s public spaces more inviting, sustainable, and reflective of our shared identity.
