The next meeting of the Spenard Community Council is Wednesday, September 5, 2018.
The Muni0cipality of Anchorage has passed AO 2014-3 requiring Community Councils to update their bylaws to include certain minimum standards and procedures. Spenard's bylaws were one of the councils used as a model, and much of the new ordinance is already reflected in our council's bylaws. However, Spenard's bylaws haven't been updated since 2006 and could use a fresh look.
The new bylaws were approved by the Council at the June 4, 2014 meeting. The new bylaws (available for download below) have been submitted to the Anchorage Municipal Clerk for final approval, as required by AO 2014-3. As of August, the Municipal Clerk has found the new bylaws to be conforming with AO 2014-3, and has recommended them to the Assembly for final approval. Councils have been given til November 30 to complete this process.
